Welcome to the web site of Marshall Obstetrics & Gynecology. Physicians in our group are the faculty for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Joan c. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. We occupy the 4th floor suite of the Marshall University Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. We have two additional offices, one on US Route 60 East in Huntington and the other in Hurricane, West Virginia. Our physicians provide general and specialty obstetric and gynecologic care to women throughout all stages of life.
We specialize in caring for normal and problem pregnancies and provide preconception and prenatal care in a friendly, family-oriented environment. With our diverse group of physicians, multiple locations, and evening office hours, you are certain to find our practice a modern yet comforting atmosphere in which to obtain prenatal and delivery care.
The Department offers complete range of general gynecologic services including screening examinations and disease prevention, evaluation and management of reproductive problems for women from adolescence through menopause. Gynecologic ultrasound is available on site. A complete array of surgical interventions for gynecologic disorders utilizing standard, minimally invasive, and robotic techniques are available.
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology, headed by Gerard Oakley, MD, manages women with reproductive organ cancers. This Division is located in the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center. The West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program is an active statewide program which promotes awareness of the early signs and symptoms and potential screening mechanism for female genital cancers.
The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, directed by David Chaffin, Jr., MD provides care for high risk pregnancies at both the Marshall University Medical Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital. The Cabell Huntington Hospital Perinatal Center, a comprehensive fetal diagnostic and fetal surveillance center accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, is staffed by the Maternal and Fetal Medicine faculty.
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility is headed by William Burns, MD. He sees patients both in the Marshall Medical Center and in the Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine locate at Cabell Huntington Hospital, adjacent to the Marshall Medical Center. A full range of assisted reproduction techniques, including in vitro fertilization is available to patients.
Under the direction of Kevin Conaway MD, the Division of Urogynecology provides diagnosis and treatment for urinary incontinence and other female pelvic floor dysfunction. In addition to surgical therapy, our physicians provide medical, behavioral modification, and other therapies.
