HUNTINGTON, W.V.-- Michael Krasnow, D.O., Ph.D., has been selected as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists for the 7th consecutive year by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. He was also recognized by his peers on the list of Best Doctors in America 2013 for his contributions in his specialties of glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Krasnow, chairman of the department of ophthalmology at Marshall, has been reappointed to the National Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee of Express Scripts. Also, he presented “Anti-VEGF Therapy: New Treatments for Ocular Vascular Disease and Age-Related Macular Degeneration” to the National Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee of Express Scripts in March 2012.
Other department highlights include the following:
- Belinda Russell, O.D., has been named to the list of America’s Top Optometrists for the third consecutive year by the Consumer’s Research Council of America;
- Russell Fry, M.D., mentored medical students Zubair Ansari and Josh Hendrix in their submission and award of a $15,000 grant for An Analysis of the Accuracy of Remote Evaluation of Digital Retinal Images of a Rural Diabetic Population; and
- Fry mentored medical students Daniel Richardson and Sarah Slocum in submission and award of a $15,000 grant for An Evaluation, Need and Effectiveness of Free Mobile Eye Health Screenings of a Homeless Population in an Appalachian Community.
