What is Pulmonology/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine?
Pulmonology is the specialty which deals with diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract. Pulmonologists treat a variety of conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, and sleep disorders, among others. Sleep medicine is a subspecialty of pulmonology and our physicians in sleep medicine have completed additional training to care for patients with sleep disorders. Critical Care is another subspecialty of pulmonology and our critical care physicians have completed additional training to care for patients who are in critical condition in intensive care units of hospitals.
