Ophthalmologists are doctors with specialized training in the evaluation and care of the eyes. Pediatric ophthalmologists complete a dedicated training to master the management of diseases of the developing eyes of children. Dr Klimek, our pediatric ophthalmologist, provides services for a wide variety of pediatric ophthalmic diseases such as:
- eye muscle problems (strabismus),
- lazy eye (amblyopia),
- droopy lids (ptosis),
- jerky or wiggly eyes (nystagmus), and
- hazy lens (cataracts)
These patients are referred to our state-of-the-art pediatric eye care facility at Hurricane, WV. Strabismus and amblyopia are the major areas of clinical and research interest for Dr Klimek. Besides, she also has expertise in the full range of pediatric ophthalmology diseases, from the diagnosis of ocular tumors (retinoblastoma, hemangioma) to the management of eye abnormalities resulting from prematurity (retinopathy of prematurity).
